Carolyn B’s “Thank You” to Dr. Lori.

Carolyn B. Says "Thank You" to Dr. Lori

Dr. Lori: Performer, Teaching Artist, Author and Amazing Friend

"Opera?" I secretly gagged and said, "No way." When I heard opera singers on the television, I thought, who are these singers wearing ancient clothes from my history books? While they were singing in a language that I didn't understand, I wondered, what were they singing about? And how could they make those loud sounds with their voices? I could not imagine myself as an opera singer at all.

Dr. Lori: Opera singer, author and amazing friend (she’s more, much more than that—she’s a wife & mom and vocal coach and performer), I’m sure I left out like fifteen things. One thing I absolute can’t forget, is her support for my many-many-MANY projects, this allows me to thank Dr. Lori personally. Probably close to a decade ago, she was doing operatic rifts on background tracks produced by Devante from Jodeci when I worked with him, she dropped everything and co-produced my first children’s shoot, again over a decade ago, and we are currently working on doing a reunion shoot ten-plus years later!

Pray much, and keep moving my Dear friend, it’s not about the destination, it’s all about the journey. ~ Carolyn Battle-Cochrane

Macbeth Act 2 Scene 2

when Lady Macbeth says:

"That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold.
What hath quenched them hath given me fire."

"Lady Macbeth is referring to her act of putting potent drugs in the alcohol of the King's servants so they will sleep while the King can be assassinated by Macbeth. I use this phrase to empower myself. I substitute the words "that" and "what" with things like hatred, bigotry, and all the other human-made contrivances which are intended to disempower or diminish the spirit. All of the things I strive for and manage to achieve can be traced back to the "that's and what's" of life. That's one of the reasons I wrote and had my first children's book published. Hopefully, my book will embolden and inflame the hearts of young people to dream large and reach their goals."
